Easy Venison Breakfast Hash Recipe – Cooking With Wild Game
This easy venison breakfast hash recipe is the perfect wild game meal. Using leftover game meat for this recipe helps reduce waste, but fresh is also great too!

Why Eat Wild Game for Breakfast?
Many people underestimate the things they can do with wild game. For example, this easy venison breakfast hash recipe is a great way to use up leftover meat from the night before and reduce waste!
A lot of people turn their nose up at game meat, but they just haven’t learned to appreciate the benefits of eating it. Not only is it high in protein, but it’s low in fat. Venison is full of essential vitamins and minerals, and to top it off, you know where the meat comes from. I really enjoy living a life where we live off the land and eat nourishing foods, and wild game is just that.
Part of our mountain lifestyle is trying to hunt and forage for as much of our food as possible. Going back to our roots has been one of the best decisions we have ever made as a family!

Ingredients and Kitchen Tools Needed for Venison Breakfast Hash:
ingredients:
- Cooked venison meat (leftover steaks, roast, etc.)
- Potatoes
- Onions
- Seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika)
- Olive Oil
- Butter
Tools:
- Cast Iron Skillet – I only cook with cast iron or stainless steel, due to the toxins in other non-stick cookware. If you don’t have cast iron, feel free to use what you do have.
- Spatula
- Chef’s Knife – this is my personal favorite knife
- Cutting Board – for chopping all of the ingredients.
For serving:
Serve this up with a side of fried eggs for extra protein. Adding eggs to this meal makes it a complete and tasty breakfast! You can also add peppers to the hash and cheese to make it a little more interesting.

Step 1: Gather all of your ingredients and put oil and butter into your cast iron skillet, and turn it on to medium-high heat.

Step 3: Add the potatoes to the hot pan, and then add the seasonings.
Step 4: While the potatoes are cooking, chop up the onion, and the venison. Make sure to finely chop the venison into small chunks.

Storing and reheating:
If you have any leftovers, let them cool for about 15 minutes, and then store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days. You can reheat in the microwave, or in a pan on the stovetop.
